At Nottingham Hoods Basketball Club, the safety and wellbeing of all our members—especially children, young people, and vulnerable adults—is our highest priority. We are fully committed to creating a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for everyone involved in our sport.
📜 Our Commitment
We adhere to the Basketball England Safeguarding Policy, which sets out the framework for keeping children and adults at risk safe from harm. This includes ensuring all our staff, coaches, and volunteers are:
- DBS-checked and appropriately vetted
- Trained in safeguarding and child protection
- Supported to respond appropriately to concerns
We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we encourage an open culture where concerns can be raised and dealt with promptly.

Our Club Welfare Officer is the first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns, questions, or disclosures. They are trained to listen, take concerns seriously, and act in accordance with Basketball England’s safeguarding procedures.

🏀 Our Day-to-Day Practice
At every Nottingham Hoods session, we ensure:
- A qualified coach is present at all times.
- Emergency contact and medical information is securely held.
- Players are treated with respect and fairness.
- Photography and video are only used with consent and for approved purposes.
- Bullying, abuse, or discrimination of any kind is not tolerated.
