Johde Campbell Announces Retirement from Professional Basketball
Johde Campbell, a professional basketball player known for his skill, leadership, and dedication to the sport, has officially announced his retirement from professional basketball. Campbell, who has been a key player for the Nottingham Hoods since 2021, will now focus on life beyond the court.
“After much thought and reflection, I have made the decision to step away from basketball to focus on my future beyond the game. Basketball has been my life but I’ve come to realise that planning for the next chapter of my life is important. This decision was not made lightly, and I will always appreciate the memories and relationships i made during my times at the Hoods 🏹.”

Campbell began his basketball journey at Charnwood College Basketball Academy in 2017. He made his professional debut at the age of 19, playing for the Leicester Riders in the BBL against the Manchester Giants, where he recorded 5 points and 1 rebound. After graduating from Missouri State University – West Plains in 2019, Campbell signed his first professional contract with the Cheshire Phoenix in the BBL for the 2019-20 season. He then joined the Derby Trailblazers in November 2019 before moving to the Sheffield Sharks for the 2020-21 season. In 2021, he joined the Nottingham Hoods, where he has played ever since, while also spending the summer of 2024 playing professionally in China.

- 2019-20 (Derby Trailblazers): 13.6 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 3.2 APG, 1.2 SPG
- 2020-21 (Sheffield Sharks): 3.3 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 0.9 APG
- 2021-22 (Nottingham Hoods): 14.2 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 5.3 APG, 2.2 SPG
- 2022-23 (Nottingham Hoods): 13.7 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 5.7 APG, 1.9 SPG
- 2023-24 (Nottingham Hoods): 16.2 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 7.0 APG, 1.9 SPG
Beyond his contributions on the court, Campbell has been deeply involved in philanthropic efforts and mentoring young athletes. His impact on and off the court has been felt by teammates, fans, and aspiring players throughout the Hoods Programme.
